Merry Christmas to all from YJFC !

YJFC would like to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous Christmas and upcoming holiday season. The wonderful poem below is a tribute to all the aviators and aviation nuts out there, and is titled - "An Aviator's Christmas". If you are the original author of this poem please contact the webmaster and you will be credited with the ownership of the same.

An Aviator's Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, and out on the ramp,
Not an airplane was stirring, not even a Champ.
The aircraft were fastened to tiedowns with care,
In hopes that come morning, they all would be there.
The fuel trucks were nestled, all snug in their spots,
With gusts from two-forty at 39 knots.
I slumped at the fuel desk, now finally caught up,
And settled down comfortably, resting my butt.
When the radio lit up with noise and with chatter,
I turned up the scanner to see what was the matter.
A voice clearly heard over static and snow,
Called for clearance to land at the airport below.
He barked his transmission so lively and quick,
I'd have sworn that the call sign he used was "St. Nick".

I ran to the panel to turn up the lights,
The better to welcome this magical flight.
He called his position, no room for denial,
"St. Nicholas One, turnin' left onto final."
And what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a Rutan-built sleigh, with eight Rotax Reindeer!
With vectors to final, down the glideslope he came,
As he passed all fixes, he called them by name:
"Now Ringo! Now Tolga! Now Trini and Bacun!

On Comet! On Cupid!" ............. [ continued, click on Read More below ]

Mustang Jet "show-and-tell" at PDK 10/29: 6 PM EST

A friend of Nelse Hansen has recently purchased a Cessna 510 Mustang, which is a business jet with a three-screen Garmin G1000 glass cockpit.  He will give a brief presentation and Q&A on the Mustang, and jet flying in general, followed by a tour of the airplane.  The jet will be connected to ground power, so people can sit in the front and play with the G1000.  The FBO also has a G1000 simulator (actual equipment, not a software program) which we are working to make available for people attending the presentation.

The tour is open to all club members and guests.  If you are interested in attending, please let Nelse know, so we can get a count of how many people to expect.

YJFC would like to thank the wonderful folks at Dobbins ARB, especially James Branch for hosting us. We learned about runway security, air traffic control, aviation weather, and the C-130 mission.  The tour lasted longer than expected, but everyone stayed until the end to get the specs on the C-130 !

Here's the picture taken by James Branch.
